2023/005: New Party to the Agreement - Accession of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The Secretariat of the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (UNEP/AEWA) is pleased to inform you that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will become a Contracting Party to AEWA as of 1 July 2023.

This accession will bring the total number of Parties to 85.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the key countries for migratory waterbirds located on two major flyways between Eurasia and Africa. The UNEP/AEWA Secretariat is delighted to welcome the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the AEWA Family and looks forward to working closely with the Government and relevant stakeholders on the implementation of the Agreement. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is also a Party to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) since 1991.
