Website and Workspace for the AEWA Pink-footed Goose International Working Group!
Bonn, 12 September 2013 - The UNEP/AEWA Secretariat
is proud to announce the launch of an AEWA
International Species Working Group website for the Svalbard
Pink-footed Goose (Anser brachyrhynchus).
The website is managed by the Aarhus University which also
provides the coordination for the AEWA Pink-footed Goose
International Working Group.
Similar websites have been developed by the UNEP/AEWA Secretariat for all the inter-governmental AEWA International Species Working Groups convened to manage the implementation of their respective International Single Species Action or Management Plans. The websites and especially the internal workspace areas are expected to ease communication amongst Working Group members in the inter-sessional periods between face-to-face meetings. In addition, the public pages provide a platform to showcase the individual species and to share activities being implemented under the Working Groups with a wider audience. Further Working Group websites will be launched as they become available.
Making
information on the implementation of the AEWA Pink-footed
Goose Management Plan – which foresees the coordination
amongst range states to sustainably harvest the species
- publicly available, is particularly important in order
to ensure full transparency on the measures being taken
to manage the Svalbard Pink-footed Goose population.
