Welcome to Dunia Sforzin and Jolanta Kremer

The AEWA Secretariat has recruited two new staff members as envisaged in the approved budget 2006-2008. Ms Dunia Sforzin (German/Italian) has joined the Secretariat as an Information Assistant working on publications and supporting the work of the Information Officer. Ms Jolanta Kremer (British) in her position of Team Assistant provides administrative and organisational support and helps out with translations and proofreading. Both posts are on a part-time basis.

Ms. Dunia Sforzin (Photo: Florian Keil UNEP/AEWA) Ms Dunia Sforzin worked as a Consultant at the AEWA Secretariat from June 2005 to May 2006. She supported the administrative work related to the 3rd Meeting of the Parties, as well as the organisation of the World Migratory Bird Day and several other Information-related projects. Dunia studied Biology at the University of Bonn. Her diploma dealt with questions about the general mechanisms in the gut development of the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. After several internships in various NGOs and other institutions dealing with environmental protection, Dunia became the interim Coordinator of the CMS led Scientific Task Force on Avian Influenza and Wild Birds as of 1st of June 2006.

 Mrs. Jolanta Kremer (Photo: Marie-Therese Kämper UNEP/AEWA) Ms Jolanta Kremer has a bilingual family background (English/Polish). She graduated at the University of Leeds in the UK, holding a B.A. in Textile Design. She worked at the German Academic Exchange Service in Bonn in the scholarship sections for China, Africa and South America for 5 years. Subsequently she worked with various exchange organisations, where she was involved in developing and implementing international student travel and education programmes. Jolanta had a number of professional breaks while bringing up three children, during which she worked as a freelance translator. She gathered experience as a team assistant at the Center for Advanced European Studies and Research (caesar) in Bonn, where she was responsible for supporting two international research groups in the nanotechnology section as well as translating and proofreading.
