Latest Tour du Valat Newsletter Features AEWA

The latest Tour du Valat Newsletter that was circulated at the end of December 2013 includes two interesting articles with relevance to AEWA. In addition to a nice introduction to AEWA, the electronic newsletter features an interview with the AEWA National Focal Point for Algeria, Mr. Ammar Boumezbeur, giving an insight into his tasks as AEWA National Focal Point as well as his role as the sub-regional focal point Coordinator for Northern Africa.

The Tour du Valat research centre hosts the Technical Support Unit (TSU) to the AEWA African Initiative, which is a co-operation between the research centre, the French national hunting and wildlife agency Office National de la Chasse et de la Faune Sauvage (ONCFS), the Directorate of National Parks (DPN), Senegal and the Direction of Water and Biodiversity (DEB), France. The purpose of the TSU is to technically assist the African Parties to implement the AEWA Plan of Action for Africa 2012-2017 on the ground. This Plan of Action for Africa was adopted at 5th Meeting of the Parties to AEWA, in La Rochelle, in May 2012.
