Latest African-Eurasian Waterbird Census Newsletter Released
Bonn, 15 December 2015 – the December edition of Wetland International’s African-Eurasia Waterbird Census Electronic Newsletter has been published.
This lead story concerns the International Waterbird Census which will mark the 50th occasion that the survey is being conducted and this year is being held with the slogan “International Waterbird Census – Let’s make it count”. The International Waterbird Census is an essential tool for the implementation of AEWA - The Conservation Status Report (CSR) published for each AEWA Meeting of the Parties (MOP) makes extensive use of the waterbird count data collected through the IWC along the African-Eurasian Flyway.
The latest newsletter also features a report on AEWA MOP6 and details of a new project, for a climate-resilient site network for the African-Eurasian flyway, which was launched by Wetlands International at the AEWA MOP in early November 2015.
