2025/010: Adoption of Amended Version of the MOP Rules of Procedure Via Silence Procedure – Re-Submission

In reference to Notification 2025/003 and Notification 2025/008, the Secretariat would like to inform you that a formal objection on the draft amended version of the Rules of Procedure of the Meeting of the Parties to AEWA has been received from a Contracting Party within the set deadline. The objection concerns the deletion of the word ‘accredited’ in Rule 16 as it is the only Rule which explicitly requires members of delegation to be accredited. It is therefore proposed this wording is retained.

In consequence, the Secretariat, on behalf of the Chair of the Standing Committee, is herewith re-submitting the amended version of the MOP Rules of Procedure with the retained original wording in Rule 16 for adoption to all National Focal Points of AEWA via a written silence procedure. The amended version of the Rules of Procedure for adoption is attached.

The Secretariat would like to urge all National Focal Points to take note of Rule 16 of the annexed version of the Rules of Procedure and to provide any comments or objections to this latest version not later than 24 June 2025. Any objection should be directed through official letter or Note Verbale to both:

Mr. Simon Mackown, Chair of the Standing Committee: simon.mackown@defra.gov.uk and

Mr. Jacques Trouvilliez, Executive Secretary: aewa.secretariat@unep-aewa.org

The attached version of the Rules of Procedure will be considered as adopted effective 25 June 2025 in the absence of any further formal objection by National Focal Points to AEWA.
