An African Regional Preparatory Meeting for the 9th Session of the Meeting of the Parties to AEWA (Pre-MOP9) will take place from 16-17 September 2025. The meeting will take place online via Zoom.  

The AEWA Pre-MOP9 will provide an important opportunity for the AEWA Contracting Parties in Africa to deliberate on the key issues relating to migratory waterbird conservation which will be addressed at the 9th Session of the AEWA Meeting of Parties (MOP9) and, in this regard, review relevant documents to be submitted to MOP9. The AEWA MOP9 is scheduled for 11-14 November 2025 in Bonn, Germany.  

The AEWA African National Focal Points (NFPs) will also have the chance to identify and discuss issues of common interest for the region ahead of the AEWA MOP9, consider and propose comments on documents and draft resolutions for submission to the MOP, as well as to strengthen collaboration amongst each other as well as enhance their negotiation skills.
