Through Resolution 8.13 on Date, Venue and Funding of the 9th Session of the Meeting of the Parties (MOP9) to AEWA, adopted at MOP8 on 30 September 2022, the Meeting of the Parties invited interested Parties to communicate to the Secretariat within six months their interest in hosting the 9th Session of the Meeting of the Parties and decided to convene it in 2025.

An offer from a Party to host MOP9 has not been received so far. The Meeting of the Parties is the principal decision-making body of the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA), with ordinary sessions taking place at intervals of not more than three years. Previous sessions of the MOP were held in Hungary, South Africa, France, Madagascar, Senegal and Germany.
