In reference to the previous Notification 2024/006 of 28 October 2024 on the Submission of proposals for amendments to the Agreement and to Notification 2025/001 of 20 January 2025 on Dates and venue of the 9th Session of the Meeting of the Parties to AEWA (MOP9) the Secretariat would like to inform that the 300-day deadline for the additional voluntary step of the submission procedure was on 13 January 2025 while the 250-day deadline will be on 4 March 2025.  

The procedure for the submission of proposals for the amendment of the Agreement is defined by Article X.3 of the Agreement. Through Resolution 8.1, the Meeting of the Parties (MOP) established an additional preliminary voluntary step to the procedure to enable the AEWA Technical Committee to review and provide advice on proposed amendments before their submission to sessions of the MOP. As per Art. VII.3(a), one of the functions of the Technical Committee is to provide advice to MOP, and through the Secretariat, to Parties. In accordance with this additional step, the text of any proposed amendment and the reasons for it, other than proposed amendments originating from the work of the Technical Committee, should be communicated by the submitting Contracting Party to the Technical Committee, through the Agreement Secretariat, preferably 300 days and not later than 250 days before the opening of the session of the Meeting of the Parties.

The 9th Session of the Meeting of the Parties (MOP9) has been confirmed to take place on 10-14 November 2025 in Gaborone, Botswana. The Contracting Parties are invited to consider submitting to the AEWA Technical Committee any possible proposals for amendments of the Agreement by 4 March 2025.
