German Federal President Visits UN Campus in Bonn

12 September 2013 - German Federal President Joachim
Gauck visited the United Nations Campus in Bonn today.
During his visit, German President honored the work of the United Nations shortly before the 40th anniversary of Germany’s admission to the world organization. Both German states, the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic, joined the United Nations on 18 September 1973
Bonn is often referred to as “Germany’s UN City” and has a particular focus on sustainable development. The UN Campus in Bonn comprises 19 of the 27 UN agencies in Germany, including the Secretariats of the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) and the African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement (AEWA) – two international wildlife treaties administered by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
