3rd Meeting of the Standing Committee (StC 3) held in
Bonn, Germany
At the generous invitation of the Government of Germany,
the 3rd Meeting of the Standing Committee took place from 4 - 5 July 2005
in Bonn, Germany. Representatives from Africa and Eurasia as well as the
Depositary (The Netherlands) were present at this meeting, which was chaired
by Mr. Emmanuel Severre (Tanzania). In addition, the Chair of the Technical
Committee and representatives from the CMS family, the UNEP Department of
Environmental Conventions, the UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre,
and from Wetlands International attended the meeting as observers. [read

AEWA exhibition "Impressions of traveling birds" opened
on 4 July 2005 by Minister Jürgen Trittin
The evening of 4 July 2005 was dedicated to the opening of the AEWA exhibition
"Impressions of traveling birds" by the German Federal Minister for the
Environment, Mr. Jürgen Trittin. The ceremony was attended by the members
of the AEWA Standing Committee, representatives of the German government,
International NGOs and IGOs as well as of the local private sector. The
exhibition was one of the activities organized by the AEWA Secretariat to
mark the 10th Anniversary of AEWA. [read

"Spring Alive" meets AEWA
The Polish BirdLife partner OTOP (Polish Society for the Protection of Birds)
met with the AEWA Secretariat at Museum Koenig in Bonn on 9th July 2005
for a common event to present the new "Spring Alive" project, which will
start in February 2006, to the general public. The project aims to increase
the awareness of European citizens for birds, the natural environment and
the need for cross-border conservation. Its core component is an interactive
website to encourage children and families especially to observe and record
the arrival of migratory bird species each year. [read
