Energy Task Force Side Event Today: Reconciling Energy Developments with Migratory Species Conservation

Bonn, 17 May 2017 - Achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement requires scaling up of renewable energy whilst ensuring ecological integrity and biodiversity protection. Species conservation is one of the challenges. CMS has established a Multi-stakeholder Task Force on Reconciling Selected Energy Sector Developments with Migratory Species Conservation – the Energy Task Force - to address this issue internationally. At a side event, AEWA and CMS together with other members of the Energy Task Force will present best practices on reconciling renewable energy and power line developments with conservation of migratory species. The side event will take place today in the margins of the UNFCCC conference.
