Gabon Becomes AEWA’s Party No. 67

The UNEP/AEWA Secretariat is pleased to announce that Gabon will accede to the Agreement as of 1 December 2012. This will raise AEWA’s membership to 67 Contracting Parties. Gabon is a state on the west coast of Central Africa sharing borders with Equatorial Guinea to the northwest, Cameroon to the north, and with the Republic of the Congo curving around the east and south. Ghana Hosts 11th Meeting of the AEWA Technical Committee (TC11)

The 11th Meeting of the AEWA Technical Committee (TC11) took place in Accra, Ghana from 27 to 30 August 2012. The meeting was hosted by the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission of Ghana and was attended by nearly 30 participants including several invited experts and Contracting Parties and IGO observers from 16 countries. AEWA 5th Meeting of the Parties Adopts Action Plan for Migratory Waterbirds and People in Africa

A five-year plan to strengthen the conservation of waterbirds and their habitats in Africa was adopted at the 5th Session of the Meeting of the Parties to the African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement (AEWA). Wadden Sea Flyway Initiative (WSFI) Advisory Board Meets in Wilhelmshaven

Lesser White-fronted Goose – 2012 News Round-up

2012 is proving to be another busy year in terms of conservation efforts for the Lesser White-fronted Goose (Anser erythropus).
