Bonn, 28 April 2014 - The April edition of Wetlands International’s bulletin, the African-Eurasian Waterbird Census, has been published;  highlights include articles on new population estimates and trends for AEWA populations, a new set of indicators showing the status of waterbirds and the effectiveness of EU policies such as the Water Framework Directive and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive and on proposals for an adaptive approach to managing waterbird harvesting. Fittingly, as Wetlands International is a partner in the campaign, World Migratory Bird Day is also mentioned.
