Bonn, 13 October 2018 - For the sixth consecutive year, the operatic choir Lirica San Rocco of the Lyrical Cultural Club from Bologna, Italy gave a benefit concert as part of the celebration of World Migratory Bird Day. For the second time, the concert was held in Bologna.

The programme of the concert contained various arias from famous works by leading composers, including Verdi’s Aida and Nabucodonosor, Wagner’s Parsifal and Donizetti’s Lucia of Lammermoor. The choir also paid tribute to the Magic Flute of Mozart through an unforgettable duet of Papageno, the birdcatcher, and his female companion Papagena.

The Director of the choir is Marialuce Monari and one of the tenors is Fernando Spina, who was the Chair of the 6^th meeting of the Parties of AEWA and serves as the Chair of Scientific Council of the Convention of Migratory Species (CMS), organizes the annual World Migratory Bird Day campaign.

The concert took the audience through the wings of music and the members of the choir, with their wonderful voices, were once again the spokesmen and -women for migratory birds and their conservation.

This time the initiative enjoyed the hospitality of the Foundation of the Cassa di Risparmio di Bologna and the beauty of Palazzo Pepoli which was built in medieval times and is now home to the Museum of History of Bologna.
