The UNEP/AEWA Secretariat would like to inform you that an extraordinary Meeting of the Standing Committee has been scheduled to take place on 27 September 2021, 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Central European Summer Time) upon request by the Standing Committee. The Committee will, inter alia, discuss and approve the draft budget proposal for 2022 and decide on a formal procedure for the adoption of the budget by the Parties. National Focal Points of Contracting Parties to AEWA are invited to participate in this extraordinary meeting in order to contribute to the development of the draft budget proposal for 2022.

The Secretariat will inform you immediately after StC19 about the decisions taken and submit the draft budget proposal for the year 2022 to all Parties in order to enable the Secretariat to maintain its functions until the adoption of a budget for the following triennium at MOP8.

The 8th Session of the Meeting of the Parties (MOP8) was postponed to 2022 in order to increase the chances of holding this meeting in person.
