At the Sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to CITES (Bangkok, 2013), the Government of Thailand recommended the adoption of a Resolution (CITES Resolution Conf. 16.1) declaring 3 March, the day of the adoption of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), as World Wildlife Day, and invited the United Nations General Assembly to consider declaring 3 March of each year as World Wildlife Day.
