The Red-breasted Goose International Working Group is an informal expert group of organizations working for the protection of the globally threatened species - Red-breasted Goose – Branta ruficollis. It’s goal is to implement the International Single Specie Action Plan for Branta ruficollis. The coordinator of the RBGIWG is located in Romania (the hosting organization is SOR – Romanian Ornithological Society) – one of the most important wintering areas for RBG along with Bulgaria and Ukraine.

The Red-breasted Goose (Branta ruficollis) is a charismatic, globally threatened species highly dependent on wetlands and farmed areas. In the last 50 years, the distribution of the breeding and wintering grounds of Red-breasted Goose has changed dramatically for unknown reasons.
