The Lesser White-fronted Goose
EU LIFE Nature Project is a concerted effort lead
by WWF Finland and sponsored by the European Commission
to conserve the species on its European migration route
in Norway, Finland, Estonia, Hungary and Greece.

The Portal to the Lesser White-fronted
Goose is an up-to-date information resource about
the wild populations of Lesser White-fronted Geese, and
maintained by the Lesser White-fronted Goose EU LIFE Nature
Project. The pages provide, amongst other aspects, critical
information about recent sightings and ongoing observations.

The Wings over Wetlands (WOW) Project
is a joint international effort to conserve wetlands and
waterbirds along the African-Eurasian flyways. It supports
pilot projects in wetland areas relevant for the LWfG in
Estonia,
Hungary,
Lithuania,
and Turkey. The projects' Critical Sites Network Tool houses
information on migration, habitat use and ecology of >300
migratory waterbird species. Since 2008 the project has
a regional capacity building center in Moscow, Russian Federation
and Almaty, Kazakhstan - two critical Range States for the
conservation of the Lesser White-fronted Goose.

Some exemplary initiatives
of LWfG “sister species”
The ‘Top Goose’ project
of the ‘World on the Move’ Initiative
is a research partnership of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust
and a BBC Radio 4 series. It follows for example Greenland
White-fronted Geese, Brent Geese and Barnacle Geese along
their epic journeys using satellite telemetry.
