Bonn, 31 August 2015 - Nana Kofi Adu-Nsiah is currently the Executive Director of the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission of Ghana. He has been with the Wildlife Division since April 1983 and has held various positions including Wildlife Ranger, Park Manager as well as Business Planning and Research Manager.

Nana Adu-Nsiah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Renewable Natural Resources Management, a Master’s degree in Rural and Land Ecology Surveys and Executive Master’s in Business Administration. He is also a traditional chief in Ghana and has long-standing traditional, administration, business and professional experience of the conservation and development of Ghana’s natural resources including migratory water- and landbirds.

The Ghanaian National Focal Point for both CMS and AEWA, Nana is approaching the end of his second term as the regional representative of West & Central Africa on the AEWA Standing Committee and has also served as Chair of the CITES Standing Committee.

“The current population pressure on land poses a challenge in establishing new nature reserves for bird use. Strengthening the protection of existing bird areas with the introduction of innovative conservation strategies appears to be an option to go now, thus making AEWA an Agreement of hope for the conservation of migratory birds in an environment of rising threats.

Nana Adu-Nsiah has a passionate interest in nature conservation and loves all wildlife species and therefore finds it impossible to single out one AEWA species as his particular favourite.
